Viral video sites seem to be increasing almost everyday. Serving up to 40 million videos per day, the popular site, Youtube, continues to impact the world today. It is a great way to keep the boredom out of one’s life. Youtube allows one to have the ability to upload a video to show the world, then people can watch them, comment on them, email them to friends, or scare them. On top of that, one can catch up with the latest trends, news, and connect with their favorite influencers. It is an advanced form of entertainment that almost everyone uses, including myself. One gets a lot of entertaining videos and can watch pretty much anything that they desire for free on Youtube. Whenever you go on the internet, there is never a time when you don’t feel inclined to go on Youtube. With that in mind, what makes Youtube so popular?

I cannot think of a single person who has the time to sit down and watch a whole series of a show within a day. Thus this is why Youtube is loved. The videos are short and gives one the same feeling they would enjoy when watching a movie or TV show. It is almost as if Youtube has become our new TV. Although everyone has different interests, what makes Youtube great is that there is something for everybody. From humor to education to motivation to lifestories, Youtube has it all. There is more on Youtube than just music videos. It has a variety of topics and accounts, ranging from makeup, inspirational speakers, sports, music, to watching someone play a game. In my view, Youtube is like a archive of our past. With Youtube, we can relive the past by finding old videos of past events or people. Despite its entertaining content, Youtube is actually helpful. I just don't use the site to go watch my favorite Youtubers’ and to get a laugh out of me. In some subjects, Youtube has helped me in understanding the specific material. If I am stuck on math, I can simply find a video on Youtube, giving me a tutorial on the math lesson. And it just doesn’t apply to school. Youtube is a major resource for almost everything. One would not be able to do their makeup without having watched a Youtube video. Youtube even helps with the little things, such as solving a Rubik’s cube, how to work your MacBook, and so much more. Having a source like that at your fingertips whenever you need it, is so helpful.

Youtube even allows one to have the freedom and control do anything they want. One just doesn't have to use Youtube to watch videos. It gives one the opportunity to be discovered and make something out of their life. Some people have even made Youtube their life. When viewing YouTube, you get the opportunity to see within somebody's life. They open up and let you into their private and personal life. Because of Youtube, normal people like Ryan Higa, the Ace family, and Bethany Mota have risen to the top. When viewing YouTube, you get the opportunity to see within somebody's life.Truly, they get the chance to pick what you get to see and don't see. Yet you are as yet observing raw footage of their lives. They open up and let you into their private and personal life. As a result, people have grown a connection to the Youtuber because a day of their life is never missed. On top of that, you get the opportunity to go on this journey with the Youtuber, watching their life grow right when you hit that “Subscribe” button. Youtube creates a community between the viewers and Youtuber.

All in all, Youtube has turned into a type of diversion for many individuals. Individuals watch what they need, when they need. They associate with different people, viewers, and the Youtuber. Individuals become more joyful and progressively inventive through Youtube, which makes it a standout amongst the best types of media these days. But before I go, what are your thoughts on Youtube? Do you think it is a waste of one’s time or a great source for one to make personal relationships and connections?

  1. I think YouTube is both beneficial and harmful. It certainly isn't one or the other because there is so much content out there that can be utilized in different ways. YouTube can be extremely helpful in learning certain tasks, helping with homework, etc. but it can also be a huge distraction for people, especially teenagers, using it. YouTube has so many endless videos, with a long list of suggestions for new videos to watch next below the video one is watching, which can cause hours to be spent watching one video to the next. Of course, the videos on YouTube are extremely entertaining and a great way to spend free time, but I think it's important to limit the time spent on such a wide network of videos. I also think that personal relationships on YouTube are a positive experience, as they allow us to see the lifestyles of ordinary people in a completely different city/state/country than us.
